Panic Attacks and Anxiety
What can cause someone to suffer with panic attacks and anxiety?
Research shows that many types of anxiety can be related to an imbalance in brainwave distribution. Specifically, if there are too many Beta (High Frequency) brainwaves on the right side of the brain, anxiety can frequently be the result. Beta brainwaves are typically present when you are thinking cognitively.
However, if you aren`t just thinking, but rather obsessing over something, that can lead to a marked spike in the Beta energy. The result- a panic attack. Due to the very nature of panic attacks, they can be very difficult to eliminate on your own.
Neurofeedback Improves Brainwave Balance
At Total Health Neurofeedback we can measure your brainwave output with a computerized qEEG (Quantitative Electroencephalogram). This advanced technology can measure and analyze the brainwave balance in each lobe of your brain. If your anxiety and panic attacks are the result of Beta brainwave imbalances, this test will allow us to determine that.
Once the qEEG is done, we will create a custom training protocol designed to correct the measured imbalances. The training is easy to do. All you have to do is sit, relax and enjoy a movie!
The Results Are Long Term
During the training session, there will be small sensors on your scalp that measure your brainwaves, and our equipment will provide audio and visual feedback based on your brainwave activity. Neurofeedback uses a natural learning process known as “operant conditioning”. It is the normal way in which our brains learn anything new.
Remember learning how to swim, or ride a bike? You did it by repetition and feedback, and over time you mastered the new skill. Neurofeedback works in much the same way. Since it a natural process, there are no side effects. Even better, the new, healthier neural pathways created during training are permanent – providing you with long term relief!
